REALLY GETTING EXCITED

Well, I went to the hairdresser yesterday and got my color touched up, got conditioned and all the stuff that goes along with it. I found myself really trying to figure out what I wanted my last hairstyle to be. I thought for a brief moment that I was really going to miss my hair ( I mean combing it and all) but I quickly got over it. I was in the salon from 1pm to 5:30 and that was with her only working on me! Too much. I wound up having it flat twisted because I am on my way to sunny Cancun with my DH in the morning. I would love to post some pics of my last hoorah but unfortunately, I need him to help me and he is not around. One of the things I must accomplish in 2008 or lets just say before I turn 50 is to become internet saavy and be able to do stuff on my own. I depend on DH for EVERYTHING. Well not everything but most things (if its not email) Pitiful...... I'll post pics soon.

I get back on Friday and my appt is Sunday and I really can't wait. The only thing I am having difficulty with is the thought of not being able to put oil or anything in my hair. That will be a new thing for me. I'm going to have to get rid of all of my stuff as soon as I get back because I am an admitted product junkie. I would be the first one to try to grease up just to see what would happen. I plan on giving all of my stuff to another natural girlfriend who is always doing something to her hair.

I need to get back to packing now. Just wanted to document my feelings. Can't believe I am at this point.

DECEMBER 5, 2007 FIRST SNOW DAY IN MD

Okay, this entry has nothing to do with sisterlocks but I need to get this off my chest. What's up with the snow and the traffic?? It took me 3 hours to get to work today and I'm totally annoyed. Part of my journey for 2008 will be to figure out a way to work from home!!! I mean, I probably could now but the powers that be of my organization haven't given the blessing yet (to some of us that is.) So I sit here now listening to WTOP traffic report and wishing I had just gone home after dropping my son off at school. The whole city is locked up in a traffic nightmare and for what? to get to a job only to find that half the office stayed home or are in the same traffic that you were in and haven't made it in yet. So we all stand around looking out the window pondering what it's going to be like when we leave for the day! 3 more hours to get home??? Somebody needs to look into this issue of inclement weather. Furthermore, with gas prices being what they are, I can't afford to sit idle and waste gas in the traffic! I think I'm going to leave early today........

I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT

Well, I feel like I am off to a great start. A warm thank you to those of you who posted comments on my page. I had another consultation with someone today and I am going to go with her. She gave me an appt for December 16 and I gave her my deposit!!! I will be fresh for 2008. My 2 loc'd girlfriends are being so supportive and I am bugging the heck out of them with questions and just plain talking about it, for you see, its all about me now! :-) Shoot, I went thru it with them and believe me it was a trip!! (still is) I will post pics of them and give them their props with permission of course.

So, stay tuned. My DH is actually standing by me right now with camera in hand to capture what I am looking like at present (a hot mess indeed) so pics will be a plenty. I have my last real hair appt on friday and that is to get it conditioned, colored(the gray has got to go) and flat twisted for my trip to Cancun. We leave on Sunday. Dec 9 (my DH's b-day) and return on Dec 14, then on the 16th my journey truly begins and frankly, I can't wait. My 16y/o wants me to be permed and wrapped again but he will just have to get over it. He tried locking at about 13 y/o and almost drove me crazy. Needless to say, it got snipped! I think he's just hating right now.

I'm finally ready

Hello All,
Well, I'm finally ready. 46 years old, have been natural since 1999 and now ready to loc my hair. Sisterlocks of course! I have studied and researched and watched 2 of my good girlfriends make the transition and now it's my turn. I figure I can do this for the next 3 and 1/2 years and when I turn 50 if I hate it I will just cut it all off. I don't think I'm going to hate it though. I am truly looking forward to the whole experience. I have read so many inspiring stories and I want a story too....... So welcome to my journey.
I have seen 1 consultant so far and she placed 2 test locs in my hair on Friday, Nov 30,2007. I am seeing another tomorrow. I must make sure that I have the experience with the right person. I am extremely particular about my hair (as I am sure most women are). I will let everyone know who and when. I would like to have them in prior to Jan 2008 but..... if I have to wait, I will.
I look forward to posting and creating a photo gallery as many of you have and have been my source of inspiration. Thank you all for being so creative and willing to share yourselves with others who want to take this journey. I now invite you to join me on mine.
