Drumroll Please.......

Click on pics to enlarge and view the full slide show with captions. These are pics of installation, my consultant and the 2nd day of being newly locked.

Well it's been a week since I had my new set of SL's installed and my has it been a week. My emotions have gone up and down about my new look. I think I'm over it now. It is what it is and it's really okay. I just read a comment from someone that really put it all into perspective so I decided to go ahead and post pics and move on. The installation was done over 2 days. 11 hours on day 1 and 9 hours on day 2. I have less locs now and I figure it is due to the take down and loss of hair, I also had it trimmed but I see now that it was actually cut. I feel like I should have waited to have them reinstalled to give my hair a chance to recover from all of the shock. In 1 week I had it taken down, colored, cut and then reinstalled. That's trauma.

I think I was truly wrapped up in the # of locs and the thickness of my hair and not having to go thru the scalpy stage. What is that all about? I was really tripping. I lamented to my close friends and even DH got nervous and thought I was going to take them out. NO WAY! I will never do that again. Natalie's work was impeccable and I know that I have true SL's now. I think I was just tripping that I had to go thru such an ordeal to get it. I was so ready back in Dec to start the new year with locked hair. My hair was in great condition and just the length I wanted it to be starting out. This was so drastic a change in every way that I just couldn't enjoy it.

I am ready now for the new phase. Thanx to all for all of the comments and support.

First of all, Natalie's locks are gorgeous. I have lock envy lol.

Do you feel that you should have more or less locks? I recently began obsessing over the # of locks that I have (384 +/-) and feeling like I should have much more. I'm coming up on my one year anniversary next month and am seriously considering having a consultant split the locks in the middle third of my head to increase the fullness.

Claire and Natalie have beautiful hair, looks like you found yourself a qualified consultant!

Don't obsess over the # of locs, I have 380 - 400 and that is fine with me, less time to re-tighten.

Loved the slide show!

Ooh, I'm jealous you got a picture of Natalie and Claire together...

Your hair still looks full. I'm thinking that the 100 less locks is because it was done properly this time. Your hair looks perfect!

Peace!

I have 378 +/-. At first I was thinking that they will eventually need to be split here and there to gain fullness. But now I am like, whoa, it sure does feel like I have a lot. Give it time to fill in, and if need be have some split.

I think your re-do looks great. Your parts will be less noticable with time. Your hair looks very thick and if you ever decide to become a DIYer you will be thankful for the 100 fewer locks.

Come one Wendi, no more tripping! They look fine. Time to sit back now and enjoy the journey. I`m looking forward to lots of pictures with smiling faces because it looks like you have plenty to smile about from now on.

Southern Girl,
Your lock thickness looks good to me. I was thinking that I should have more because of how many I had the first time but I think I'm over it now. We are all different. I just have to wait and see how it swells as time goes on. When I look at it, I can't imagine her making them any smaller. Yours has come along nicely since your start with the permed ends. Hang in there.

Thanks to Lakia, Salt/Pepper Diva and Amina, Quiet Spirit and Kathryn for checkin in on a sista and for the encouraging compliments and words. I can't stay wrapped up in a number. I'm movin on for sure. I'm back and will continue to post pics and blog as long as DH has a camera!

All the trauma was well worth it. I can see that your hair is much better than before regarding the parts. You still look great and Sisterlocks make your hair grow so fast. Before you know it you will have the lenght and thickness you desire.

Your locks were probably thicker before because of the amount of locks but mostly because the parts were not even. That's probably what your trainee meant when she said she did what she thought was right at the time. These are more scalpy because the parts are even so they show the grid more. Don't worry. They look great and once they start to plump up a bit I'm sure you'll LOVE them!

Congrats on your new journey. Claire has been my consultant for over a year. Natalie's locks are gorjus. I've just discovered a new lock idol look at her hair.

I wondered why you took your 1st sls down, until I saw the 2nd set. The difference is startling. They are beautiful. How many locks did you have b4 and how many now? Perhaps it's something to do with the grid. I have 375 (2months old)and felt disappointed that I didn't have the average 400. But I've comforted myself after finding out that many others have under 400 locs and it doesn't mean you don't have true sls.

Your locks are beautiful. I am also in the DMV area. Does Claire do installtions? If so, where does she work?
