Well, so far, so good. I have received loads of compliments and hopefully I will be an inspiration to some of my friends, We'll see. This blogging is no joke. I am really going to try and keep up with it. Still have a lot to learn. I am trying to figure out how to post links of the other blogs that I love to follow. I'm getting it together slowly but surely.

Your Sisterlocks are awesome! And I would never have guessed your age! You are really beautiful.

Nice pics...looks like you have a photographer...unlike so many of us who have to experiment with self-portraiture to document our journeys.

Have you talked to Maryee about joining the LHBE yet?

Please tell us why you decided to get Sisterlocks...I also love to see before photos.

Feel free to visit my spot: blackrussian77.blogspot.com. And please comment to let me know you were there!

I am relly looking forward to following your journey.

Thanx everyone. I am going to attempt to answer blackrussian.

Yes, my husband has taken on photography with much zeal and I am his main subject these days. He is getting ready to start his business and already has people lined up.

Haven't spoken with Maryee. Not sure how to do all of that..... I would like to get my page out there.

I have before photos in my blog. I decided to do sisterlocks after much research and 2 other friends got them prior to me. I was having a hard time accepting the fact that I would never comb my hair again. One day I just knew I was ready after being natural since 1999 I ran out of things to do with my hair! Had 2 sets of extensions placed in summer and fall and loved the freedom and just decided to do it and I am soooo happy with my decision.
Stay in touch everyone!

Thanks for posting the replies and visiting my blog. The more blogs you visit, the more you'll see that most of us are pretty inconsistent about answering questions and leaving comments.

Depending on what's going on for us we may post a lot some months and then drop out for weeks and weeks.

If you do want to join the LHBE, you just have to e-mail Maryee and say so. Then when she gets around to it, she'll send you an invitation and you do a brief post directing people to your site. It's all very unofficial. A very simple process. (No dues, no rules except that you keep it clean and positive.)

But perhaps you prefer to be a little more private for now....

I'm glad I found you though.

Even though I live in SC now, I'm actually from D.C. I was born at Walter Reed and lived a few blocks away near Silver Spring. My brother lives in Lanham now and I've been wanting to visit him for several months, as well as get an opportunity to meet some of my favorite bloggers who live in the area.

However, with my new business and all, I don't know when I'll make it up there again. Last time was November of '06.

I was like you. I liked combing and brushing my hair (once I'd gotten it straight). I thought I would really miss it and get tired of my hair being 'sectioned' off into locks. Whenever I had twists or extensions I always got to a point where I just had to take them out and run my fingers through my hair and loosen it up and give it a GOOD wash.

I was afraid that I would have had my locks for something like three months and I would be suddenly ready to have them OUT-OUT-OUT!

But that didn't happen.

I guess it's because my locks are my real hair. They are light and soft and I CAN run my fingers through my hair and feel my scalp. I CAN wash it and get it really clean.

I don't miss combing it at all!

Thanx for the shout out. Whenever you come back to the area, we must get together! I did email Maryee and I will just wait for a response.
